Mr Madzlan advises on Islamic finance, capital markets practices, as well as corporate and debt restructurings throughout his career of more than a quarter-century. He was recognised as a leading Islamic finance lawyer in various publications including Legal 500, IFLR 1000, Chambers & Partners, Who’s Who Legal, Expert Guide and Islamic Finance News.

Since 2021, Mr Madzlan serves as an independent director of Prudential-BSN Takaful Berhad. He was formerly a member of Board of Trustees of Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia (YaPEIM) and is still serving on its board committees.

Mr Madzlan was a visiting fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, United Kingdom under British Chevening Scholarship; and a visiting counsel at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York under IFSB internship.

Mr Madzlan holds a masters in Islamic Economics, Banking and Finance from Loughborough University, United Kingdom where he was an IsDB scholar; and obtained a law degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia where he was a Sharp-Roxy scholar. He attended Sophia University in Japan for summer school under Japan Airlines scholarship and has also participated in a Student Exchange Programme at University of Indonesia, where he gained exposures on the Indonesian legal system.
